The goal of the 2026 4CPD Conference is to elevate practices and inspire action by equipping our attendees with tools and insights on emerging trends that strengthen professional learning on our campuses, with our colleagues, and for ourselves.

  • July 1, 2026 - Early Bird Registration Opens

  • July 8, 2026 - Call for Proposals Closes

  • July 27, 2026 - Selection Notifications Delivered

  • August 2, 2026 - Early Bird Registration Closes

  • August 3, 2026 - Standard Registration Opens

  • September 13, 2026 - Standard Registration Closes

  • September 14, 2026 - Late Registration Opens

Proposal Submission Guide

The 2026 4CPD Conference elevates practice and inspires action by equipping attendees with tools and insights on emerging trends that strengthen professional learning on our campuses, with our colleagues, and for ourselves.  We invite California Community College practitioners, faculty, staff, and administrators to submit proposals that showcase innovative models, inclusive strategies, and visionary leadership.  All sessions will be presented as a 60-minute breakout session. 

Submission Requirements

​To be considered, your proposal must include: 

  • Session Title: an engaging and descriptive title

  • Abstract: a concise description for the conference program (100 words max)

  • Learning Outcomes: 2-3 actionable "takeaways" for participants

  • Track Selection: identify which of the three pillars your session best fits

  • Session Overview: An overview of your proposed session that includes what participants will experience, and how it connects to the equity-centered session requirements (200 words max)

Conference Threads

We are seeking proposals for -minute breakout sessions centered on the following three threads: 

1. Elevating Equitable Practices

 
Spotlighting effective, inclusive, and equity-centered practices or professional learning models that improve outcomes for our diverse student and employee communities.

Focus Area Examples: 

  • Promising professional learning practices

  • Core Professional Learning competencies through an equity lens 

  • Human-Centered Design

  • Coalition Building Strategies (e.g., getting professional learning projects across the finish line, funding, cross-departmental events) 

  • Advocacy for impactful and inclusive change ( e.g. programmatic, institutional practices, systems)

Session Requirement: Proposals should clearly state who benefits from the practices or professional learning models and how they reduce inequities or improve access.

2. Leading Through Action for an Equitable Future 

Challenging participants to innovate, reimagine, and commit to actionable steps toward more just and inclusive systems.

Focus Area Examples: 

  • Ethical and bias-aware AI adoption

  • AI learning arc

  • Transformative human-centered design

  • Emerging trends in education

Session Requirement: Proposals should push participants to take action—to reimagine systems, address bias, and lead equity-driven change.

3. Learning Through Inclusive Tools and Strategies

Providing practical professional learning skills, methodologies, and tools that strengthen equitable, accessible, and high-quality programs.

Focus Area Examples: 

  • Facilitation strategies

  • Universign Design for Learning (UDL)

  • Project Management

  • Technical reporting with disaggregated data

  • Policy/compliance updates

Session Requirement: Proposals should demonstrate how these professional learning skills, methodologies, and tools support or ensure accessibility, reduce barriers, or improve representation.
